Bonjour,

The drawing is a spell, it seems to proceed from magic. A paper, a few strokes of pencils, ink, or pastel, are enough to lead us to a world where the spectator's mind escapes, seized by the suggested line, which sometimes seems so simple, ...

To introduce this zoom on the drawing, we offer you this text by Charles Baudelaire:

“The first quality of a designer is the slow and sincere study of his model. It is not only that the artist has a deep intuition of the character of the model, but also that he generalizes it somewhat, that he deliberately exaggerates some details, to increase the physiognomy and make his expression clearer.

It is curious to notice that, guided by this principle, - that the sublime must flee the details, - art in order to perfect itself returns to its childhood. - The first artists also did not express the details. All the difference is that by making all of a coming the arms and legs of their faces, it was not they who fled the details, but the details that fled them; because to choose one must have.

Drawing is a struggle between nature and the artist, in which the artist will triumph all the more easily as he better understands the intentions of nature. It is not for him to copy, but to interpret in a simpler and more luminous language. ”
