Lives and works in Paris

Nelson Dias-Lope was born in Rio de Janeiro. Architect, in 1974 he left Brazil to go to work in Algiers. In Paris, a city that has always fascinated him, he settled in 1976 to study art at the Sorbonne.

Since then, the professions of architect and painter are inseparable for him. Assemblies and reliefs occupy an important part of his work (architect's obsession with 3D?). His painting offers a powerful contrast between the rigor of the structure of the work, very often predominantly vertical (still reminiscent of the architect?), And the exuberance in the juxtaposition of borrowed forms and patterns (evocation of the baroque of his native country ?). If Paris has become his city, his life, part of his heart still beats in Rio: he often returns there in search of his Brazilian oxygen.

He exhibits regularly in France, particularly in Paris, in institutional venues, exhibitions and galleries. 

You can find his works in the International Fund  of Contemporary Art in Busigny - Nord Pas de Calais - France and at the MNBA-National Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro.
