Jean-Hubert lives in Creuse, an isolated house that he has completely restored and in which he has set up his workshop. Jean-Hubert is a great artist, but he ignores it. Or he doesn't want to see it. Solitary, he never feels as good as in the heart of nature walking in a deep forest. It is perhaps these silent steps which give him this particular look he has on the city, which bring to his paintings that singular softness that he hides under a gruff, often grumpy aspect. His flat colors, his superimposed constructions, his architectural compositions belong only to him.

His painting is unique: it allows us to grasp the sensitivity and the humility of the artist. When you look at Jean-Hubert's paintings and then close your eyes, a story begins. And this story joins another story that began on an autumn evening in the Creuse forests ...

A man walks, in nature, in the street in front of his home, in the market of a city whose language he does not know, in the corridor of a sleeping house where the perfume appears through a tile colored with dawn breaking outside. Moments in a man's life, which everyone lives, and which in some gives rise to a particular phenomenon.

For JH, that's how it starts. He observes, he walks, observes again, then ends up taking out a camera, which he places in front of his face, like a mask or a telescope, and which he releases, before putting it away and then observing again, and resume walking. The device is conceived as a precise tool allowing to explore the possibilities of a framing and to record with precision each element of the landscape, its forms and its tones, thereby catching key elements as for the fascination that the sight exerts on the painter, and which do not appear at first glance, in the enthusiasm of the encounter, but require a patient work of clarification, of focusing, which requires the silence of the studio.
