Biography

Painter, engraver, lithographer, Evelyn Gerbaud was born in Paris in 1950. She studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts in Paris. She has been a member of the Salon de Mai steering committee for several years. In 1975, she created, with Patrick Devreux, Atelier and Editions de St Christol de Rodières. In addition, the artist is a collaborator of the review “Passage d'amencres” and of the editions “Voix d'amore” (since 2005)

Evelyn Gerbaud has been exhibiting since the 70s. Regarding the last decade, she has shown her work in numerous solo exhibitions in France (especially in Paris) and abroad (Switzerland, Sweden, Holland, Japan, Belgium),

also in many group exhibitions of group and Salons (Salon de Mai, it goes without saying, but also Salon des News Realities in Paris, Salon de Marne la Vallée, International Art Jonction de Nice, Artenîmes or Salon d'Angers). His work is part of public collections such as the Cabinet des Estampes of the National Library of France and the Museum of St Rémy de Provence.

When Evelyn Gerbaud is asked to name a few artists who live in the back of her head, she almost instantly says Edward Hopper, Balthus, Georges Bru and Jean Rustin, then Pentti Sammallahti or Sarah Moon with regard to photography.

Evelyn Gerbaud paints, engraves, inscribes her mysterious drawing on the lithographic stone. She likes to confront the difficult art of monotype: “ Of this slow walk, helped by the palm, the fingers, the brushes; little by little the coveted image materializes. You have to quickly capture it, make it your own and hold back your impatience and fears until you get out of the press. So sometimes from this long wandering we bring to the surface something that still escapes you: resurgences of fleeting images, accumulation of cultures, interrupted dreams and secret landscapes.. »She writes
