Biography
Beatrice Bissara
is a French artist born in 1972 who lives and works in Paris. His artistic and personal fields of investigation relate to consciousness and our relationship to reality. In her work, she experiments with the links between Body, Space-Time and Consciousness.
"Ecology of consciousness" explores, through works and installations in movement, paintings and other mediums, the "doors of perception" and beyond. In an approach intrinsically linked to the sensory and psychic experience, it renews and thus brings its contribution to a reflection which, for several decades, has aroused the interest of a whole community bringing together scientists, philosophers but also artists. Béatrice Bissara's works offer a direct apprehension of this questioning and offer experimental aesthetic paths, as many possible openings.
Questioning in depth our relationship to reality, Béatrice Bissara's work is supported by scientists (Jean-François Houssais, Michel Bitbol, both researchers at the CNRS), and this crossing, this meeting, is immediately registered as a way of saying the connection that is naturally established between the worlds of epistemology and art. This mutual interest expresses how art, through the concrete dimension of the experience of the work - different from scientific experimentation - materializes, presents, makes visible what scientists seek to show with words and sometimes obscure concepts. to neophytes: art like “Königsweg”, to use the Freudian expression, “royal road” towards self-knowledge.
"Ecology of Consciousness" is therefore a concept, revolving around several artistic proposals of sensitive exploration, in an "experiential" approach, consisting, explains the artist "in establishing an articulation between the experience of the subject and cognition. human ”, rejecting, she quotes,“ the vision of a world independent of the one who perceives it. The perceiver and the perceived are in relation and are mutually determined ”*.
